Open living and entertaining spaces
Distribute several compact speakers across a large or irregular room, then organize them into a predictable Sonos zone instead of managing every speaker independently.
Professional PoE speaker systems
Sonos Era 100 Pro turns the all-in-one Sonos speaker into an installed audio product with Power over Ethernet, direct networking, professional mounting and software zones. It is sold in pairs through Sonos installation partners, making PoE capacity and mounting details part of the design.
Integrator guidance
In Chicago-area homes and businesses, Era 100 Pro fits where a compact surface-mounted speaker is more practical than a built-in model but loose power cords are not acceptable. Standards-based PoE can deliver power and data over one Ethernet cable, enabling high wall or ceiling placement without an AC receptacle at each location.
The product retains Sonos app control, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, voice capability and Trueplay while adding installed-system features. Its DSP adapts for portrait, landscape or downward-facing orientation. The optional Surface Mount provides indexed positioning, cable management and theft deterrence, and the included eyebolt supports a secondary safety attachment where required.
Every speaker consumes a switch port and can draw up to 30 watts on PoE+. Total switch capacity, cable length, topology and mounting surface must be reviewed together. Davis Audio & Video designs those pieces as one system, then commissions room names and zones for simple control.
Where Sonos Era 100 Pro is the right fit
Distribute several compact speakers across a large or irregular room, then organize them into a predictable Sonos zone instead of managing every speaker independently.
Use planned Ethernet pathways for power and data where passive-speaker wiring and centralized amplification are not preferred.
The optional Surface Mount supports portrait, landscape and downward-facing orientations with repeatable articulation and cable routing.
Provide a compact installed source for streaming and app control while keeping tables, shelves and counters clear of loose speakers and power adapters.
Era 100 Pro was designed for residential and light-commercial installation. Sonos Pro can add business-focused remote management and commercially licensed music in the United States under a separate subscription.
What Era 100 Pro does differently
PoE reduces the need for AC power at the speaker location. With a correctly designed PoE switch and network, the same Ethernet run can provide power and a wired data connection.
Sonos zones let multiple Era 100 Pro speakers act as one control entity and group with other Sonos rooms without rebuilding the zone each session.
The speaker automatically selects an optimized DSP profile for portrait, landscape or downward-facing placement. Trueplay can further tune the result to the room.
The optional Surface Mount adds indexed positioning, concealed or exposed cable paths, a locking base plate and a hook for added stability in non-portrait orientations.
Professional design
A PoE switch cannot always deliver its per-port maximum to every port simultaneously. Sonos recommends PoE+ and lists up to 30 watts per Era 100 Pro, versus 15.4 watts on PoE. Davis Audio & Video totals speakers with cameras, access points and other PoE devices before selecting switching.
Sonos requires Category 5 or better and recommends Category 6, with a 328-foot or 100-meter Ethernet maximum. A valid wired link disables the speaker's wireless interface. A PoE injector can instead supply power while the speaker uses WiFi, but that must be intentional.
The Surface Mount can attach to concrete, brick, masonry or wood with appropriate hardware. We preserve access to the RJ45 port and controls, plan secondary safety attachment where required, and keep the speaker indoors as Sonos specifies.
How Era 100 Pro fits into a Davis Audio & Video system
We size the switch, reserve an appropriate power budget, label each run and verify wired connectivity before the speakers are grouped or tuned.
Era 100 Pro zones can play independently or group with Sonos Amp, Amp Multi, Port, Arc Ultra and other compatible rooms for coordinated listening.
A matched pair can serve as surrounds in supported configurations. Network rules differ when Era surrounds and the main theater product are wired.
Supported Sonos partner integrations can place core playback and volume functions alongside lighting, climate and entertainment control while the Sonos app retains detailed system settings.

Planning notes
Davis Audio & Video process
We study the listening area, acceptable speaker locations, mounting surfaces, noise level and the way spaces should be grouped.
Davis Audio & Video calculates ports and power, specifies cable pathways, selects wired or WiFi behavior and documents each speaker location.
Speakers and mounts are secured, aimed, cabled and labeled with service access and any required safety attachment in mind.
We build zones, verify orientation-aware DSP, run the appropriate Trueplay process and test streaming, grouping and control.
Room and zone names are organized for clear daily use, and the client receives a concise control walkthrough and support path.
FAQs
Era 100 Pro adds PoE power, direct Ethernet, software zones, orientation-aware DSP, professional mounting and an optional safety attachment. It is sold in pairs through Sonos installation partners.
No outlet is required at the speaker when it is powered by a compatible PoE or PoE+ switch or injector. Each speaker still needs its own Ethernet cable and enough available power in the PoE system.
Sonos recommends PoE+ and lists up to 30 watts per speaker. Standard PoE is compatible at up to 15.4 watts. The total power budget must support every connected device.
Yes. Era 100 Pro supports WiFi 6. A valid wired link disables WiFi. A PoE injector can provide power without data when WiFi is the intended design.
Yes. The separate Surface Mount supports portrait, landscape and downward-facing orientations. The speaker adapts its DSP, and the mount provides repeatable positioning and cable management.
Zones let multiple Era 100 Pro speakers operate as one predictable control entity. A zone can have its own playback and volume behavior and can be grouped with other Sonos rooms or zones when desired.
No. Sonos specifies Era 100 Pro for indoor use. Patios, roof decks and other exposed locations need weather-rated speakers selected for the environment.
Era 100 Pro can be used as part of supported Sonos surround configurations. The pair must be compatible with the main home-theater product, and Sonos applies specific Ethernet rules when the surrounds or main theater speaker are wired.
