Sonos Arc Ultra is designed for homeowners who want a cinematic television experience without turning the room into an equipment showroom. It combines a wide soundstage, dedicated height channels, enhanced dialogue tools and Sonos multiroom audio in a single soundbar—then expands with a Sonos Sub and wireless surrounds when the room calls for more impact.
Integrator guidance
Arc Ultra is easy to place badly and rewarding to place well. Its upward-firing drivers need a sensible relationship to the ceiling. The soundbar should not be trapped in a deep cabinet or mounted where the television blocks its acoustic path. The HDMI chain must pass the right audio format. The network must be dependable. Those details determine whether the result feels enveloping or merely louder than the television.
Davis Audio & Video treats Arc Ultra as part of the room. We coordinate mounting height, screen location, furniture, ceiling geometry, Sub placement, surround options and control behavior. The objective is not to expose every setting; it is to make “watch TV” reliable and speech easy to understand.
Arc Ultra is also a natural fit for homes already using Sonos. Television audio can remain local while music joins other rooms, and a compatible automation system can place the most useful functions on the same remote used for lighting and room control.

The Arc Ultra experience, properly commissioned
Sonos uses 15 Class-D amplifiers, nine silk-dome tweeters—including two upward-firing units—six midwoofers, and its Sound Motion woofer architecture. The result is engineered to create a large spatial presentation from one bar.
Four Speech Enhancement levels allow the system to move from subtle assistance to stronger voice emphasis. We set the default with the room and listener in mind rather than leaving every client to troubleshoot dialogue scene by scene.
Arc Ultra supports Trueplay tuning with compatible iOS and Android devices. The procedure measures the room and adjusts the soundbar; final listening still includes checking seating positions, bass integration and preferred content.
Arc Ultra can begin as a single soundbar and expand with compatible Sonos Sub and rear speakers. That allows the system to follow the room, budget and desired impact without replacing the core control experience.
Professional design
Dolby Atmos is a chain, not a checkbox. The streaming app or disc must provide a compatible mix; the source device must output it; the television must pass it; and the soundbar must receive it through the correct HDMI connection. Arc Ultra supports Dolby Atmos over Dolby Digital Plus and, through eARC, Dolby Atmos carried by Dolby TrueHD, along with multichannel PCM. We verify the format at the Sonos app instead of assuming the logo on the TV guarantees the result.
Physical placement is equally important. Sonos lists Arc Ultra at 46.38 inches wide, so screen and furniture proportions should be reviewed. Wall mounts need the correct structure and clearance. On furniture, the bar should sit forward enough that the cabinet does not obstruct the drivers. Ceiling height, slope and absorption influence the perceived height effect.
We also commission the control path. HDMI-CEC, TV remote volume, source wake behavior and the room-off sequence are tested together. A powerful soundbar is not a successful system if the family still reaches for three remotes.
How Arc Ultra works with the rest of the home
Arc Ultra connects through the TV’s HDMI eARC/ARC port. We verify the correct port, digital-audio output, CEC control, pass-through behavior and mounting clearances.
Compatible Sonos products can add deeper bass and discrete surround channels. Placement is selected for response and comfort, not merely the nearest outlet.
A Control4 Halo Touch can launch the viewing activity, select sources, set volume and coordinate lights or shades while Sonos remains the audio platform.
Music can be grouped with other Sonos rooms. Television audio grouping is possible, but network conditions and latency expectations should be discussed before it becomes a design requirement.
