Coves and ceiling details
Indirect light can outline architecture and support ambient scenes when setback, reflection, extrusion and output are coordinated with the room.
System-native tunable white and RGB architectural light
Lutron Lumaris tape light turns architectural accent lighting into a native part of HomeWorks QSX or RadioRA 3. Current options include tunable white, soft white, daylight and RGB plus tunable white, with system controllers that manage intensity and color without a separate third-party lighting gateway. Davis Audio & Video designs the tape, controller, power, extrusion, wiring and service access as one system before millwork and finishes close around it.
Integrator guidance
Tape lighting is often specified as a decorative detail but installed as an afterthought. Lumaris brings the light source, connectors, wiring, power interfaces, extrusions and Clear Connect Type X controller into a documented Lutron family. That gives the lighting designer and integrator a defined path from LED tape to keypad, scene, app and broader home routine.
The output choice should follow the room. Tunable White provides precise warm-to-neutral white light, while RGB plus Tunable White adds saturated color without sacrificing a dedicated white-light engine. Soft White and Daylight variants extend the available ranges for specific applications. Exact reels, cut increments, controller capacity and connector requirements vary by tape type.
Davis Audio & Video coordinates the illuminated surface, sightline, extrusion, diffuser, feed location, conductor length, controller placement, power-interface access and Lutron programming. That work helps avoid visible LED dots, dark gaps, inaccessible components, voltage or run-length problems and a finished millwork detail that cannot be serviced.
Where Lumaris tape light fits best
Indirect light can outline architecture and support ambient scenes when setback, reflection, extrusion and output are coordinated with the room.
Field-cuttable tape can follow repeated details while approved connectors, feed locations and diffusers maintain continuity and access.
Tunable-white output can support kitchen or workspace tasks when glare control, mounting position, extrusion and switching behavior are designed correctly.
RGB plus Tunable White can add deliberate color scenes while retaining 90+ CRI white light for normal room use.
Lumaris can join existing compatible keypads, scenes and schedules after controller type, processor capacity and Type X coverage are verified.
What a native Lumaris solution adds
Tunable White and RGB plus Tunable White provide 90+ CRI white light from 1,800K to 4,000K rather than relying on mixed RGB for everyday illumination.
Current product pages specify flicker-free control from 0.1 percent to full output through the native system.
The five-channel RGB plus Tunable White tape provides 16.7 million color choices in addition to its dedicated tunable-white channels.
Lumaris intensity and color can join HomeWorks or RadioRA 3 keypads, app control and programmed room scenes.
Lutron supplies matching controllers, interfaces, connectors, cable and extrusion options with published run and wiring rules.
Professional design
A reel length is not the same as an allowable illuminated run. The Tunable White Controller supports up to 16.4 feet, while the Multi-Channel Controller supports up to 49.2 feet of tunable-white tape or 32.8 feet of RGB plus Tunable White, using parallel runs no longer than 16.4 feet. Cut intervals also differ: current tunable-white tape cuts every 2 inches, while RGB plus Tunable White cuts every 4 inches. Davis Audio & Video documents each segment and feed before fabrication.
Control and power hardware must remain accessible and within the Type X design. Lutron prohibits mounting wireless controllers in or on metal enclosures, limits compatible cable and connector arrangements and excludes damage from non-Lutron tape or power components from warranty coverage. Davis Audio & Video coordinates ventilated, reachable locations and matches each HomeWorks or RadioRA 3 controller to the intended tape and interface.
Lumaris tape-light integration within a Davis Audio & Video system
HomeWorks can coordinate Lumaris intensity and color with premium keypads, schedules, automated shades and broader integrated-home scenes.
RadioRA 3 supports system-specific Lumaris controllers as Type X devices and provides app, keypad and Day/Night programming options.
A supported Lutron integration can recall approved system scenes without dividing native Lumaris behavior between unrelated control platforms.
Compatible shades and other Lutron lighting can share entertaining, task, evening and away scenes with the tape-light zones.

Planning notes
Davis Audio & Video process
Davis Audio & Video reviews coves, cabinetry, shelves, surfaces, viewing angles, control goals and the construction schedule.
We select tape output, calculate runs, choose controllers and power, coordinate extrusion and document every feed and service location.
We align recesses, cable paths, junctions, access panels and line-voltage requirements before fabrication and finish work.
We install applicable low-voltage components, activate controllers, program scenes and confirm keypad, app and approved integration behavior.
We inspect uniformity, glare, low-level dimming, color and scene transitions under realistic conditions, then complete household handoff.
FAQs
Lumaris is Lutron's native architectural tape-light family for compatible HomeWorks QSX and RadioRA 3 systems. It combines Lutron LED tape, system-specific wireless controllers, approved connectors, wiring and power components with keypad, scene and app control.
Tunable White provides adjustable high-quality white light from 1,800K to 4,000K. RGB plus Tunable White adds saturated colors while retaining dedicated 90+ CRI white-light channels across the same white range.
Lutron's current product pages specify flicker-free dimming from 0.1 percent to 100 percent for Tunable White and RGB plus Tunable White through the native control platform.
A Tunable White Controller supports up to 16.4 feet. A Multi-Channel Controller supports up to 49.2 feet of tunable-white tape or 32.8 feet of RGB plus Tunable White, divided into parallel runs no longer than 16.4 feet.
Yes. Current tunable-white tape is cuttable every 2 inches, while RGB plus Tunable White is cuttable every 4 inches. Lutron's specified connectors and cable must be used for cut segments.
The current specification defines compatible Lutron tape, controllers, connectors, wiring and power components and excludes warranty coverage for problems caused by incompatible products. Davis Audio & Video specifies the complete approved assembly.
Lutron offers multiple compatible extrusions, and an extrusion is normally valuable for alignment, diffusion, protection and thermal management. The correct profile depends on the tape type, connectors, millwork and viewing angle.
A supported Control4 integration can recall approved HomeWorks or RadioRA 3 scenes that include Lumaris zones. Lutron should remain the native lighting-control layer, with command scope and scene ownership defined during design.
