HomeWorks is Lutron's highest-capability residential platform. The current QSX generation supports local controls, centralized power modules, QS wiring, Clear Connect wireless devices, premium keypads, Lutron shades and native intelligent lighting. Why HomeWorks engineering starts before installation

A HomeWorks processor does not correct an incomplete lighting plan. Each dimmed, switched, addressable or intelligent load must be assigned to compatible hardware and documented with its control method, wattage, emergency behavior and expected dimming performance. Davis Audio & Video reviews the fixture schedule and reflected-ceiling plan, confirms current Lutron compatibility information and distinguishes decorative, architectural, task and exterior loads before panels or controls are ordered.

The network and RF design matter as much as the electrical plan. Wired and wireless processors communicate over the home's LAN, while Clear Connect devices follow model-specific distance and placement rules. A functioning internet connection does not prove that processors, gateways and integrations can communicate correctly. Davis Audio & Video reserves switch capacity, PoE where required, suitable multicast behavior, processor locations and service access, then validates operation during commissioning.

What is Lutron HomeWorks QSX?

HomeWorks is Lutron's most advanced residential lighting and automation platform. QSX is the current processor generation, supporting wired and wireless controls, centralized modules, intelligent lighting, automated window treatments, premium keypads, app control and professional third-party integration.

How is HomeWorks different from RadioRA 3?

RadioRA 3 is a professional wireless system optimized for retrofits and projects up to its published device limits. HomeWorks adds much greater scale, QS wiring, centralized panels, additional premium keypads and native access to Lutron's broadest lighting and shade portfolio.

Is HomeWorks only for new construction?

No. HomeWorks can use wireless, wired or hybrid architecture and can suit substantial renovations. New construction provides the greatest freedom for panels and QS wiring, while an existing home requires a site survey of electrical, network and RF conditions.

Will HomeWorks keep working if the internet is down?

With the local network still operating, programmed local functions and processor communication are largely unaffected, while cloud-dependent voice and remote features may be unavailable. If the entire LAN fails, devices on one processor cannot communicate with devices assigned to another processor.

Can HomeWorks integrate with Control4?

Lutron currently identifies Control4 among HomeWorks integration options. Davis Audio & Video defines which platform owns each scene and command, confirms the current driver and tests lighting, shade and status behavior during commissioning.

Can HomeWorks control Ketra and Lumaris lighting?

The current HomeWorks QSX platform supports Lutron intelligent-lighting families including Ketra and Lumaris. Exact fixture, gateway, controller and processor requirements depend on the selected products and current Lutron design rules.

Can an older HomeWorks system be upgraded to QSX?

Sometimes. Lutron offers defined upgrade paths for certain legacy processors and panel equipment, but reuse is not universal. Davis Audio & Video inventories processors, panels, links, devices, wiring and programming before proposing a migration.

Does HomeWorks require professional programming?

Yes. HomeWorks design and commissioning use Lutron Designer software and current qualified-professional workflows. Homeowners can use the Lutron app for everyday control and permitted adjustments after the system has been professionally programmed.
